Key Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair electrical faults in HGVs, trailers, and related equipment
Install, maintain, and repair wiring systems, lighting, indicators, and onboard electronics
Troubleshoot battery, alternator, and starter motor issues
Service and calibrate electronic braking, ABS/EBS, and safety systems
Repair or replace sensors, control units, and vehicle electronic modules
Use diagnostic tools to identify faults and complete required repairs
Conduct regular electrical inspections as part of preventative maintenance
Ensure all work complies with Irish and EU safety standards
Maintain detailed service reports and records
Work closely with mechanics, drivers, and operations staff
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Qualification in Auto Electrical Systems, Automotive Technology, or equivalent
Minimum 2–3 years of experience as an Auto Electrician (HGV experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of modern vehicle electrical systems and diagnostic equipment
Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
Experience with CANBUS systems, ABS/EBS, and electronic control units (advantage)
Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
