We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Trainee Accountant & Digital Innovation Lead to join our growing accounting practice. This unique role combines traditional accountancy training with responsibility for driving technology adoption and digital transformation initiatives across the firm. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members to develop strong accounting competencies while taking a leading role in identifying, implementing and optimising new accounting technologies, including AI and machine learning solutions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about both accounting and technology and wishes to develop a career at the forefront of the changing accounting profession. Key Responsibilities Build competencies across all work processes, systems and services undertaken by the firm under the guidance of senior team members. Bookkeeping and preparation of accounts for clients. Preparation and submission of various tax returns and payrolls for clients. Assist with the preparation of year-end compliance for business clients. Communicate with various regulatory bodies on behalf of clients. Lead the introduction and implementation of new accounting system technologies within the practice. Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency. Support the firm's ongoing digital transformation initiatives. Manage work assigned to third-party partners and address any related queries. Handle client correspondence and assist clients with accounting, taxation and administrative queries. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality and personal presentation. Adhere to all firm policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and professional standards. Candidate Requirements Good command of the English language, both written and verbal. Previous experience working in an accounting practice. Experience participating in or supporting the implementation of new systems and technologies. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and cloud-based applications. Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage. Knowledge of AI, automation tools, machine learning applications. Currently studying towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA. What We Offer Exposure to a wide range of accounting, taxation and advisory work.
