Ward Waste Products is seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operation of our transport fleet and driving team. The successful candidate will ensure that waste collection and transport services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant legislation. The Transport Supervisor will play a key role in supporting drivers, coordinating operational activities, maintaining high service standards, and driving continuous improvement across the transport function. Key Responsibilities * Supervise the daily activities of drivers and transport operations to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. * Support the Transport Planner in coordinating vehicle allocations, route planning, and resource deployment. * Monitor fleet movements and respond promptly to operational issues, vehicle breakdowns, traffic delays, or customer service requirements. * Conduct daily driver briefings and debriefings, ensuring all operational information is communicated effectively. * Ensure compliance with Road Safety Authority (RSA) regulations, driver hours, tachograph requirements, waste transport legislation, and company policies. * Monitor driver performance, attendance, and compliance with safety procedures, providing coaching and support where required. * Assist with driver recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing performance development. * Coordinate vehicle inspections, defect reporting, servicing, and maintenance in conjunction with the workshop team. * Investigate and report accidents, incidents, near misses, and customer complaints, implementing corrective actions where necessary. * Maintain accurate operational records, transport documentation, and compliance reports. * Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture throughout the transport operation. * Work closely with operations, customer service, and depot teams to ensure customer expectations are consistently met. * Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery. Skills & Experience Essential * Previous experience in a transport, logistics, or fleet supervisory role. * Strong leadership and people management skills. * Good understanding of transport legislation, driver hours, and fleet compliance requirements. * Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities. * Strong communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams. * Proficient in Microsoft Office and transport management systems. * Ability to work under pressure and make sound operational decisions. Desirable Experience within the waste management, recycling, or environmental services sector. Knowledge of route optimisation software and GPS fleet tracking systems. CPC qualification or understanding of transport compliance requirements.
