JOB PURPOSE:
To diagnose, repair and maintain laptops, desktop computers and related equipment from different manufacturers, while providing technical assistance to customers.
MAIN DUTIES:
• Receive customers and obtain information about equipment faults.
• Inspect and diagnose problems with laptops, desktops and computer components.
• Diagnose and repair motherboards and electronic circuits at component level.
• Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, microscopes and other testing equipment.
• Analyse circuit diagrams, electrical signals, charging systems and power-management circuits.
• Repair or replace faulty components, including screens, batteries, keyboards, connectors, storage devices and memory.
• Perform soldering and motherboard rework.
• Carry out electrical and load tests and confirm that equipment is working correctly after repair.
• Review datasheets and select compatible replacement components.
• Install or update BIOS, firmware, operating systems and drivers when required.
• Build, configure and upgrade desktop computers.
• Identify the causes of recurring faults and develop practical repair and testing procedures.
• Explain diagnostic results, repair options and recommended upgrades to customers.
• Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, components and test results.
• Train and assist other technicians with advanced repairs and diagnostics.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related area.
• At least three years’ relevant experience in computer hardware or electronic repairs.
• Experience with motherboard and component-level diagnostics.
• Ability to use electronic testing and soldering equipment.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, BIOS and firmware.
