Job Summary - Seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, Safety & Compliance Officer to manage and continually improve environmental, health, safety and regulatory compliance across our busy sheet-metal manufacturing facility in Athenry. The successful candidate will have a practical, hands-on approach to maintain a safe workplace, meet environmental obligations and support the company’s wider compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Management
• Manage the company’s environmental compliance obligations, including applicable permits, licences, consents and reporting requirements.
• Liaise with the Environmental Protection Agency, Uisce Éireann, local authorities, environmental consultants and other relevant bodies.
• Manage trade-effluent requirements, environmental sampling, testing, monitoring and reporting.
• Oversee the management, storage and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
• Monitor environmental matters including effluent, emissions, water, energy, waste, noise and chemical storage.
• Investigate environmental incidents, spills or complaints and ensure appropriate corrective actions are completed.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, resource consumption and the company’s overall environmental impact.
Health & Safety
• Provide guidance to management and employees on health and safety legislation and best practice.
• Carry out regular workplace inspections, internal audits and safety observations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Maintain the company Safety Statement and relevant EHS records and documentation.
• Ensure contractors, visitors, new machinery and work processes comply with company and legislative safety requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
• Coordinate supplier requests and declarations relating to REACH, RoHS, PFAS, conflict minerals and other applicable requirements.
• Support and maintain the EHS elements of the company’s Integrated Management System.
Qualifications and Experience
• A recognised third-level qualification in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• A minimum of two years’ relevant experience, preferably within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
• Knowledge of Irish health and safety and environmental legislation.
